Pillowcase Dresses for Congo
I have started to receive questions from women about providing pillowcase dresses for Congo. With this in mind I wrote to Katherine Niles, missionary to Democratic Republic of Congo, and asked whether they can be sent. Katherine writes:
“The supplies we receive in Congo consist solely of hospital supplies (sheets, nurses uniforms, scrub suits, or gowns and caps and masks, gloves, plastic sheeting, gauze, drapes, rolled bandages, infant gowns and receiving blankets) because shipping and customs are such a cost and such a trial in Congo. Because of these constraints, we can’t be creative in the types of things made and sent. Unfortunately, pillowcase dresses are not easily defined as hospital supplies, for Congo customs purposes, and so we are not able to use them here. Thank you.”
