Running Full Out
One morning on my way to work I saw three deer cross the highway in front of me. They ran across the road and down into the borrow pit where they came to the fence. The first deer gracefully glided right up, over and into the field without even a second’s hesitation, as if the fence were not even there! The second deer hesitated only a few seconds and then gently popped up and over the fence to the field. The third deer stopped...looked…checked her options, and then jumped seemingly effortlessly up and over. All three deer continued to run across the open field. The last hesitant deer ran full out! Fast as she could go!
All three ran off into the sunrise—it made me smile.
It’s a new year: We have crossed the road of 2011 as women doing ministry for our Lord. There’s an open field right before us! What are the fences that you see in your life? In your ministries? In our American Baptist Women’s ministries? How will we approach them? Will you sail over them with no hesitation? Will you stop, check it out and look to Jesus for your strength to jump up and over them? As we run across the field will we go full out? Full out for our King?
There are so many opportunities for us to do incredible ministries as women in our local areas as well as around the world. American Baptist Women’s Ministries provide us actual “walking out,” “hands on” avenues to bless others with Jesus’ love and healing hand! The time is here that many will be reaching out for something greater than their circumstances. We have been positioned by our Lord to be his voice and hands, to proclaim the day of salvation. The Kingdom is here.
I heard one pastor say that his shortest sermon ever is, “Change the way you are thinking because the kingdom is at hand!”
We have to look at things differently. Invite your young women to have input. Support their needs as young working moms, students, new career women. Meet when they can meet. Share our AB Women’s ministries with them. Pray! And if we step into their world, overflow will happen!
Take a reach up, a deep breath, and be strengthened!
Spend time with God and be refreshed.
Jump the fence! Run full out for your King!
How will we run across the field in 2012?
